How do I get a VISA® Credit Card?
You can apply for a Freedom First VISA® online, by calling our Contact Center at 540-389-0244 (local) / 866-389-0244 (toll-free), or you can go to a branch convenient to you. Credit card approval and rate depends on creditworthiness and other qualifications.

Can anyone get a Freedom First VISA® credit card?
You must be a member of Freedom First Credit Union in order to be eligible for a Freedom First VISA® credit card. See if you qualify for membership based on where you live, work, worship, go to school, or regularly do business.

Is there an annual fee?
No, Freedom First VISA® consumer credit cards do not have an annual fee.

Do I get reward points?
Freedom First offers two different credit cards. You can choose a credit card that offers rewards for purchases you make, or you can choose a credit card with a lower interest rate on balances carried.

Can I access my VISA® account online?
Yes, you can access your VISA® account from within Freedom First Online Banking.

What is the interest rate?

What is the maximum amount of credit I can have on my credit card?
The credit limit depends on creditworthiness and other qualifications.

What do I do if I've lost my card?
If you lose your VISA® credit card, call the Credit Card Center at 1-855-609-3628. You will not be liable for the unauthorized use that occurs after you notify the Credit Card Center.

Does this credit card have an EMV chip?
Yes, both the Freedom First VISA® Rewards card and the Platinum VISA® card have an EMV chip.

What is an EMV chip?
The EMV chip is a global initiative, led by the Europay, MasterCard, and VISA®, to combat credit and debit card fraud. It has been implemented throughout Europe for more than a decade. The chip itself is a small, metallic, thumb-sized square embedded in debit and credit cards. Instead of reading and transmitting you r account information via the magnetic strip on the back of your card, the chip sends a unique code for each transaction, which must also be validated with a PIN or signature.

Can I transfer a balance from another credit card?
Yes, you can transfer a balance from another credit card to your Freedom First VISA®. A balance transfer fee of $5.00 will post on your credit card statement. You must allow 10 days for processing of this request. If a payment is due within the next 10 days on the account submitted here, please make that payment separately to ensure you do not incur a late charge or damage your credit.

Do you have VISA® gift cards?
No, we do not.

Can you make contactless payments with Freedom First credit cards?
Currently, Freedom First VISA® cards are not enabled to make contactless payments. However, we have partnered with Apple Pay®,  Google Pay,™ and Samsung Pay® to make contactless payments with your Freedom First cards using your smartphone. Learn more about our Mobile Wallet solution.

Does the credit card have fraud protection?
Yes, the Freedom First VISA® does includes protection from fraudulent purchases with Visa's Zero Liability Policy. Take a closer look at the multi-layer protection offered by VISA®.

Rewards Program

How can I manage my credit card rewards?
Members who have chosen the Freedom First Rewards card can manage their reward points from within Online Banking or your Mobile App. If you still have questions after reviewing the following FAQ, please call our Contact Center at 540-389-0244 (local) / 866-389-0244 (toll-free).

How do I earn points?
You earn points for every dollar of purchases made using your Freedom First Rewards credit card. There are many opportunities to earn more points when you shop with participating retailers. When shopping in-store, select credit and sign for your purchases. You can also check our Specials page to see if there are any bonus offers on spending categories each quarter.

Where can I earn points?
You earn points everywhere your card is accepted.

What can I redeem my points for?
You can redeem your points for thousands of options, including event tickets, electronics and hi-tech gadgets, spa treatments, apparel, airline tickets, activity vouchers, and more.

When can I redeem my points?
You must accumulate 1,500 points before you can redeem your points. Note, it can take up to 60 days for your points to be credited to your account. After that, you can redeem your points for items, gift cards, and cash. Simply look for your Total Points Available for Redemption on the Point Details page to see how many points you have available for redemption.

Can I share points with family members?
Yes, all cards associated with an account automatically earn points together. In addition, if you have multiple accounts with Freedom First Credit Union, you can link them together to earn rewards faster. Just visit the Preferences page to link more accounts to your program.

Where can I view my point activity?
You can access the history of your point activity on the Points Details page.

What if I shopped at a participating retailer but my points are not showing up?
It can take up to 30 days for transactions to appear on the Point Details page. If points from a qualified transaction do not appear after 30 days, you can call our Contact Center at 540-389-0244 (local) / 866-389-0244 (toll-free) for assistance.

When I redeem for a product, can I ship my redemption to an address other than the one Freedom First Credit Union has on file for me?
No, for security purposes you can only ship to the address on file with Freedom First at the time of the redemption request.

Can points be redeemed at the point of purchase or can they only be redeemed online?
You can only redeem points online through Online/Mobile Banking.

If I am close to having enough points to redeem, can I purchase the balance of the points they need?
No, you cannot purchase the balance of the points you need.

What will happen to my points if my card is lost or stolen?
If your card is lost or stolen and a replacement is issued, points will automatically be transferred to the new card. Once you receive your new card, you will need to re-register on the website with your new card.
